On July 2, Principal Wang Guangfa addressed the Class of 2020 at the Beijing Royal Foreign Language School (RFLS) 2020 Commencement. He stated that, at such an important and distinctive time, he was pleased to see such wonderful, talented student performance, supported by the love and care of the teachers for the students. He feels deeply that these are new era students who have developed a resilient personal charm which advances with the times. On behalf of the school, he expressed his gratitude to the hardworking teachers and to the parents for their hard work concentrated on the healthy and happy growth of their children.
He said that we are entering a great era of globalization, information and modernization, especially in the field of education. Many countries regard online teaching and distance teaching as the first choice, which indicates that a new ecological environment is taking shape for education. For 15-year old students, this is a test of perseverance and, more importantly, a new learning experience which can also provide them with an opportunity to better understand the world. As new era learners, when facing the complex situation at home and abroad in addition to the challenges the future presents, it is necessary for them to use dialectical, materialist worldview methodology to analyze and solve problems.
Recently, China』s Ministry of Education issued a mandate regarding the further opening up of education, embracing a great era as both pioneer and reformer. Therefore, new era learners should possess global perspectives and world- recognized capabilities; be prepared to meet, embrace and transform to new concepts when international challenges arise; become the core force and resource for updating and innovating technology; develop a strong, national commitment; and bravely undertake the responsibilities dictated by the times.
